The World Scrabble Championships are held every two years. Ninety players competed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 19-23, 2003.

The four players pictured were the Australian team for the 2003 World Scrabble Championships (WSC). First reserve was John Holgate.

Australia also wished local resident Naween Fernando (8th) all the best.  He has lived in Australia for the last four years, but represented the country of his birth, Sri Lanka, at the 2003 World Scrabble Championships.
