2024 AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR SCRABBLE CHAMPIONSHIP

SPECIAL NEWS We are on a quest to find and develop the best young Scrabble players in the country. The ultimate test will be the Junior Scrabble Championship to be held in Sydney in August.

2024 AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR SCRABBLE CHAMPIONSHIP

Sunday 25th August 2024
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Must be born no earlier than 1/1/2007

Must be an Australian resident

VENUE:"The Space", Cabra-Vale Diggers Club,
1 Bartley St., Canley Vale, NSW

Start time: Please arrive at the club no later than 9:00 am
Expected finish time: 6:30 pm (including presentation ceremony)
7 games
25 minutes per player per game, Australian draw, final round Monarch of the Monolith

Overall 2nd place $700

U-18 (born in years 2007-2010) winner $700

U-14 winner (born in 2011 or 2012) $700

The fine print. Prize money will not be paid as a wad of cash in an envelope, but instead paid to parents to assist with accommodation/travel expenses to attend any future World Youth Scrabble Championship or Australian Junior Scrabble Championship. A player cannot win more than one prize from the Prize Pool, e.g. if the "overall winner" is in the U-18 category, then the "U-18 winner" prize goes to the next finishing player. The organisers reserve the right to change the age categories depending on the number of entries received in each category.

Note also: Each year, several youth players are selected by ratings to take part in the World Youth Scrabble Championship. In 2024 it is in Sri Lanka in September and the selection process for 2024 will finish on 31 July. See candidates
